Student must attend class in person and not miss more than 15 minutes to receive credits and certificate.

Class is held at Happie Soul Wellness (5000 Lenker Street Suite 103 Mechanicsburg Pa). If class is held at an alternative location, all fees are due 3 days prior to class starting. There are no refunds within 3 days of class. Travel fees may be added depending on location. Contract will be reviewed upon request of alternative location.


Course Description

Learn how to address your client's issues with this unique combination of bodywork, and intuition. By utilizing your skills on a new level, you'll be able to address your clients issues, producing faster results without discomfort to yourself and your client. Topics include technique variations, length of session, contraindications, cautions, considerations for survivors of abuse, and possible benefits. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to discuss and demonstrate techniques for performing therapeutic massage.


Learning Objectives

  1. Students will learn skills to avoid overworking such as body mechanics during treatment.

  2. Learn skills required to address all layers from fascia to the deepest muscle. Providing a massage session tailored to their client's unique needs will be discussed, demonstrated and return demonstrated by each participant. Adapting massage techniques with regard to pressure, client positioning, touch frequency, session length and possible indications of ineffective client response will be covered.

  3. Students will identify the direct cause of the issue and assist the client in learning about referred pain and emotions related to their pain.


Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will demonstrate confidence and proficiency in identifying the clients underlying issue by using their technique (pressure and speed of work). Students will be able to:

  3. Demonstrate the ability describe and to identify indications, contraindications, cautions and modifications for massage protocols related to emotional release encountered in the practice of massage therapy and bodywork.


Course Outline

9am-9:30am: Welcome and introductions

9:30am-10:30am: Discuss the physiological effects of touch, massage and bodywork techniques. Learn how and why touch can can be emotional for clients and how to support your client through their process.

10:30am-11:30am: Learn indications, contraindications and cautions and modifications for massage and ways to position client for maximum comfort.

11:30am-1:30pm: Massage skill integration with intuition for upper body - learn how to address the deeper tissues without causing pain and discomfort to your client using your intuition. Adjust pressure and speed of strokes by feeling how the tissue responds to your work. Learn how to check in with your client to asses how they feel. Dependent on type of massage given, length/intensity of treatment session, and current emotional state of client.

1:30pm-2:30pm: Lunch

2:30pm-4:00pm: Massage skill integration with intuition for lower body - learn how to address the deeper tissues without causing pain and discomfort to your client using your intuition. Adjust pressure and speed of strokes by feeling how the tissue responds to your work. Learn how to check in with your client to asses how they feel. Dependent on type of massage given, length/intensity of treatment session, and current emotional state of client.

4:00-4:40pm: How to put it all together. Hands on practice time and discussion scenarios.

4:40 - 5pm: Q & A, evaluations, certificates.
